All doubt is cowardice — all trust is brave.
Harry and Jack had been friends for years now and while their texting and meetings weren't always frequent, they'd become a regular part of his life. The wizarding world had a lot going for it, but it had a tendency towards being could be insular and certainly wasn't the most progressive society. It was a careful balance that Harry had struggled to develop and maintain - using his position in the Aurors to push for change, but not too much, not too fast - the papers were still as vicious as ever.
The most recent round of text and talk with Jack ended with an invitation to visit Cardiff that Harry was keen to accept. After making sure that he wasn't on call for the evening or the next morning, Harry hopped the floo to the city and then made his way over to the Hub.

Harry would see it, the perception filter didn't work as well on the magical, and Harry knew it was there to boot. He'd just have to react quickly to catch it. Grinning widely, Jack pushed up from his desk and moved out and around to the base of the lift, to watch and wait.

Once he's down inside the Hub and spotted Jack, he waves hello and looks around. It's a very different sort of place to the Ministry, but there's a similar feel in the air. It's a sense of purpose, but not the sort of noble, banner-waving, trumpets resounding, gilt-covered purpose that seems popular in the public facing facade of the Ministry, but the more hands-on kind that he prefers. Given the choice, Harry would rather work somewhere like this.

"Harry, Harry. How went the trip? Not too much trouble, I hope."

"None at all. It's good to have an excuse to get out that's not another long night watching some dodgy warehouse," he says with a wry twist to his mouth. The past few months have been a long, string of painfully dull stakeouts that have come to nothing and even longer meetings that might actually be worse than nothing.
"And you? How've you been?"

"Been a bit busier around here- you know what it can get like with the Rift. Dull moments come few and far between."
